Training for Board and Staff
The Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNE) believes a nonprofit committed to growth and effectiveness must also be a learning organization. The purpose of CNE's training programs is to build organizational staff capacity to deliver effective community service, thereby improving area nonprofits, the nonprofit sector in general, and society at large.
CNE offers workshops, seminars and peer learning programs with topics based on an annual theme, i.e. social enterprise. Core offerings critical to a sound foundation, such as financial management, are also offered regularly. All trainings are designed to increase the skills of professional staff and/or board members.

WEBINAR: Nonprofit Business Planning for Social Enterprise
Every day nonprofit organizations generate significant revenue through social enterprise initiatives such as ticket sales, program fees, and membership dues. While launching and running a social enterprise can be risky, the business planning process ensures that sound decisions are made, critical success factors are identified, and contingency plans are incorporated.
This web seminar will walk you through the steps your organization needs to take to implement a business plan and how to use the plan to impact growth of your social enterprise. Using a case study you will be guided through a sample business plan that will answer the following questions:
- What should be included in a nonprofit business plan?
- How do I include the board and staff members in the planning process?
- What options are there for conducting the research needed for the plan?
- What factors should I consider when evaluating if social enterprise is right for my organization?
Tools and templates developed specifically for nonprofits will be provided to participants along with resources for additional study.
