Board Self-evaluation / Self-assessment Reports.
It is best practice for the board to evaluate its own actions and progress on a regular basis. Several self-assessment tools are available. Each board member should complete the assessment tool. Then responses can be compared and differences in perceptions discussed with the whole board. Once the evaluation is completed, the board can determine areas in which training or development may be necessary. Funders are becoming more interested in nonprofit organizations conducting self-evaluation on a regular basis.
