The Humane Society of Greater Akron (HSGA) is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting animal welfare throughout Summit County, Ohio. The mission of the HSGA is to promote the humane treatment of animals. This involves the rescue and rehabilitation of sick, injured, abused and abandoned animals, the investigation of animal cruelty for Summit County; community education; and ultimately animal adoption. As a "no time-limit facility," animals that are healthy and adoptable will live at the shelter for as long as it takes to place them in a loving, caring home.
The Executive Director will report to the HSGA Board of Directors. He/She will lead a staff of 20-plus employed staff and over 300 community volunteers and manage an annual operating budget in excess of $1 million.
